Fans of legendary southern rap duo OutKast have been clamoring for a reunion of Big Boi and Andre 3000 for years. Those loyal supporters will now have their wish granted after news that Big Boi is slated to provide a verse alongside his rap partner on an upcoming remix of Frank Ocean’s “Pink Matter.”

As confirmed earlier today by Consequence Of Sound, Big Boi’s not-so-cryptic Tumblr posting over the weekend caused a stir with a shot of scribbled lyrics and a message reading, “Dropping a verse on this Frank Ocean ” Pink Matter ” #vladr.” The original “Pink Matter” was one of the standout tracks on Ocean’s Def Jam debut channel Orange and, until now, just featured the reclusive Andre 3000. According to reports, the song is set for release next week.

Last summer, it was reported that Frank Ocean wanted the “Two Dope Boyz” on the song but it was struck down by 3000 as he didn’t want the reunion to happen on a non-OutKast record. According to tweets last year from Big Boi, it wasn’t the first time 3 Stacks has halted such a recording opportunity.

Although their “hiatus” has been amicable, outsiders were still salivating for the days of old when the pair recorded a string of still-celebrated releases between 1994 and 2006. Big Boi has been the busier of the two, releasing his second solo record Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors early last month. 3000 has been burning up the features, appearing alongside Rick Ross for “Sixteen” and a delivering a show-stopping verse for T.I.’s “Sorry” track as well.

All of that is fine and dandy, but hopefully this will get the ball rolling on a proper OutKast LP.

UPDATE: Big Boi tweeted that he will be hopping on T.I.’s “Sorry” for yet another Big Boi/3 Stacks reunion on wax. “Next up T.i ” sorry ” #Jedirapshit,” he tweeted today.
