Wale reps Washington D.C. and the rest of the DMV, but for his latest music video he chose New York City as the backdrop. The rapper headed uptown to Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood to shoot the visual for the Chinx Drugz-assisted “Let A N***a Know” off his Folarin mixtape.
In addition to Chinx, fellow Coke Boys affiliate French Montana also stopped by the shoot, and Yo Gotti.
Since dropping Folarin on Christmas Eve, the release has been downloaded more than 750,000 times, and clocked over 1.6 million views on Datpiff.
Going into his third album the poetically skilled 28-year-old will take a different approach. “I just wanna show range. I’ve proven a lot to my peers and to myself and to my fans,” he told MTV News. “So I just want to take it back to something a little bit more exciting, when the music was not most exciting to me.”
