At this point, sneaker deals and rappers are about as common as a new Lil B freestyle. While some haven’t been a logical pairing of brands, others are right on the money. Wiz Khalifa became a member of the latter group with his newly formed deal with Converse.
The “Black and Yellow” rapper announced the deal on Twitter with the utmost jubilance, saying “Finally got my converse deal!!! Im fu**in amped! I did an add [sic] for my boys but this Shyte here is MAJOR.”
Fans of the Taylor Gang rapper know him to be a brand advocate for Converse, having been spotted in countless pairs of Chuck Taylor All Stars throughout his career. There’s no word on what the deal entails. Will Khalifa become the latest artist to be named “Creative Director,” or will he receive a signature shoe? At the moment, that’s unclear, but stay tuned for updates about the Converse deal at Hip-Hop Wired.
2013 is still fresh, but we’d say Khalifa has a lot to be thankful for already this year. Just a few weeks ago, he and Amber Rose welcomed a baby boy, Sebastian “The Bash” Taylor Thomaz, into the world. Looks like the Pittsburgh rapper will have his family laced in the latest Converse goods.
