If you’re looking to place any leftover blame on Shawty Lo over his All My Babies Mamas reality show, all ill feelings should be directed towards Oxygen, says the rapper. In an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, the father or 11 opened up about the controversy.

“I really feel like the name that Oxygen came up with, All My Babies’ Mamas, was done for the media,” he said.

Shawty goes on to reveal that he had no input on the show. Instead a film crew grabbed footage of his unconventional family life, with the network marketing the show as they saw fit. “Whatever they did, they did it on their own,”

Once the 13-minute trailer of the Atlanta native and his 10 babies’ mothers living it up in controlled chaos hit the ‘Net, an online petition was soon to follow. Sabrina Lamb took to the Change.org website to call for the show’s cancellation. After Lamb amassed nearly 40,000 signatures, Oxygen eventually caved to the pressure and pulled the plug.

Not to be outdone, Shawty– aka Carlos Walker–started his own petition to get the show back in rotation, but was unsuccessful. In February, he dropped the track “Petition,” airing out his feelings about the show being boycotted ahead of its premiere date.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of other Black stereotypes, like the Love & Hip-Hop reality series, hasn’t slowed down Shawty’s grind though.  “A show don’t make my life or break my life. It is what it is.”

Good to know.
