In today’s Hip-Hop climate, the remix has become nothing more than the original track with new features tagged on. Therefore, rappers should make their second go around all the more memorable if they’re going to force feed fans basically the same meal twice.

Unfortunately, we know that isn’t the case. In all actuality, some of these remixes are abysmal; others were doomed from the start, because the original record wasn’t all that live to being with. In any case, consider this to be a wake up call to those we feel have committed audible crimes with their second efforts.

And this isn’t to say that these artists are bad —they just made a bad decision.

We deemed a few remixes as summer anthem candidates weeks ago. Ironically, some of these same songs saw their hoop dreams deflate like a true fiend’s weight.

Check out the gallery on the following pages to see a list of second attempts that your favorite rappers should have locked in the archives. Let us know if you agree in the comments.

Common – “Open Letter” (Remix)

It hurts us to our hearts to admit this, but brother Lonnie could have kept his verse on Hov’s latest drop to himself.

Rick Ross – “Don’t Kill My Vibe” (Remix)

Folks forgot about the Bawse’s bars to Kendrick Lamar’s heater as quickly as it dropped. There’s a reason for that.

French Montana ft. DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Wale, Mavado, & Nicki Minaj – “Freaks” (Remix)

This may have looked good on paper, but fans reaction says other wise. No bueno.

Future ft. Birdman, French Montana, & Rick Ross – “Karate Chop” (Remix)

The original was all you really needed.

Rocko ft. Anyone Not Named Wiz Khalifa – “U.O.E.N.O.” (Remix)

Rick Ross’s r@pey lyric pressured the Atlanta rapper into making a few unneeded cosmetic changes to a track with hit undoubted potential. The Taylor Gang rapper’s remix is the only reputable version.

Ray J ft. Dorrough, Uncle Murda, Clyde Carson & Uiie Popcorn Man – “I Hit It First (Remix)”

Brandy’s little brothers claims to have hit it first. Then he implored the mantra “ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none.” Nah, bro.

Ciara ft. Ne-Yo – “Body Party (Remix)”

This isn’t a bad remix per se. It’s just the second to be debuted on the Internets. That’s kind of overkill.

Ace Hood ft. Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill, T.I., French Montana, 2 Chainz, Birdman, DJ Khaled, & Future – “Bugatti” (Remix)

Yet another track that was absolutely perfect how it was. Let Future Vandross be your guide. That is all.

Ty Dolla $ign ft. Young Jeezy – “My Cabana (Remix)”

The Los Angeles singer-songwriter delivered a heater with the original jam last year. How was this ill-timed remix supposed to compete?

Lil Wayne ft. Boo – “Bugatti” (Remix)

One could argue that Tunechi’s freestyle to Ace Hood’s hit isn’t that bad. We counter with this: Wayne gave us Da Drought 3. Carry on.
