Nelly may have the hit record he’s been searching for with his new single “Get Like Me,” featuring Pharrell and Nicki Minaj. As a bonus, the track’s accompanying visual released last night for all to see.
Following a wave of crossover records, the St. Louis rapper makes a clear attempt to impact urban radio with this one.
For one, he reached out to the currently undisputed producer of the year, Skateboard P (one of the minds behind “Hot in Herre”). Secondly, he grabbed perhaps the most dominant female MC ever for a verse. That alone sets him up perfectly to win.
The treatment only accentuates the tracks fun soundscape. Each artists carries their weight, while parading around a black and white locale to the Neptune’s funky production.
“Get Like Me” will appear on Nelly’s new album, M.O., due out September 3o. Watch the video for the cut below.
