The legendary Wu-Tang Clan has endured a lot in their 20-year existence, from crew infighting and the loss of Ol’ Dirty Bastard. However, a new legal battle brewing between U-God and a fellow swordsman has been sparked by separate representatives for the artists over the reportedly unauthorized release of a song featuring GZA.
According to the New York Daily News, reps from GZA’s Babygrande Records label filed papers against U-God’s Keynote Speaker album promotion companies, Frank 151 Media Group and Malbon Brothers Farms. The reason? U-God’s “Heads Up” single featuring Scotty Wotty and GZA was in violation of an exclusivity agreement Babygrande had with the Liquid Swords rapper.

The killer bees are gonna swarm in Manhattan Supreme Court thanks to a feud pitting GZA’s record label against a company handling promotions for U-God.
Babygrande Records alleges in papers filed Tuesday that promoter Domingo Neris and two other media companies leaked single and music video “Heads Up,” featuring a classic Wu-style duel of the iron mic between U-God, 42, and GZA, 46.
The release of the jam in June violated an exclusivity agreement Babygrande has with GZA and also stole thunder from the rapper’s upcoming album, “Dark Matter,” court papers charge.
U-God got a little love for the recently released Keynote Speaker via RZA”s Soul Temple Records label. But Babygrande is talking greasy, saying that because of the mixed criticism, GZA’s long-awaited Dark Matter album will suffer by being associated with Golden Arms.
U-God’s attorney hit back at Babygrande, saying what everyone else is probably thinking.
“It is strange to me that Babygrande failed to sue GZA, who performed freely of his own will on this album,” said attorney Paul Chin.
