While it seems that Lil’ Wayne will continue to control the Hip-Hop spotlight, he is still very cautious about how much of his private life he gives to the public. Ironically, he is quite the open book when he links up with his journalist buddy, Katie Couric.
In 2009, the pair met for a one on one interview right before the Grammys. The result was the classic line, “I’m a gangster, Miss Katie”.
Weezy returned to the world of Miss Katie today on the second season premiere of her talk show Katie. In what seemed to be a very brief 10-minute sit down, Wayne discussed various topics including his health, the eight-month bid in jail, drug use, the kids and more interesting tidbits that caught our attention.

While the speculation that Lil’ Wayne’s seizures earlier this year was all connected to his penchant love for prescription-strength cough syrup, he confirmed they were triggered when he stopped sipping syrup. After he put down the styrofoam cup, he took pain killers not knowing the pills contained codeine which triggered the near fatal reactions.
Lil Wayne was a platinum selling artist while still attending high school. As you guessed it, haters going to hate and Wayne had to pack a gun in his book bag to keep safe. Guess who purchased the gun for him? None other than his loving mother!
Lil’ Wayne spoke on his stint in prison as well claiming that the other inmates treated him fairly well. When asked about their excitement to have Wayne in the house he stated: “It’s jail, so you know for the first 20 seconds to 30 seconds everyone is like ‘Oh My God it’s really him.’ Then jail clicks back into reality of where you’re at right away.”
Wayne was very happy to announce that there are less guns and more skateboards in the hands of kids in New Orleans. He might need more people though.
