While it seems that Lil’ Wayne will continue to control the Hip-Hop spotlight, he is still very cautious about how much of his private life he gives to the public. Ironically, he is quite the open book when he links up with his journalist buddy, Katie Couric.

In 2009, the pair met for a one on one interview right before the Grammys. The result was the classic line, “I’m a gangster, Miss Katie”.

Weezy returned to the world of Miss Katie today on the second season premiere of her talk show Katie. In what seemed to be a very brief 10-minute sit down, Wayne discussed various topics including his health, the eight-month bid in jail, drug use, the kids and more interesting tidbits that caught our attention.

While the speculation that Lil’ Wayne’s seizures earlier this year was all connected to his penchant love for prescription-strength cough syrup, he confirmed they were triggered when he stopped sipping syrup. After he put down the styrofoam cup, he took pain killers not knowing the pills contained codeine which triggered the near fatal reactions.

Wayne admitted he fainted when he was very young. His cousin, who has since passed, also suffered from seizures leading him to  be diagnosed as epileptic by doctors.

Lil’ Wayne was an honors student all the way through high school.

Lil Wayne was a platinum selling artist while still attending high school. As you guessed it, haters going to hate and Wayne had to pack a gun in his book bag to keep safe. Guess who purchased the gun for him? None other than his loving mother!

When Mrs. Carter saw Wayne packing said gun into his book bag, she decided that the diploma wasn’t worth taking any chances so she pulled him out of high school to pursue his G.E.D.

Lil’ Wayne spoke on his stint in prison as well claiming that the other inmates treated him fairly well. When asked about their excitement to have Wayne in the house he stated: “It’s jail, so you know for the first 20 seconds to 30 seconds everyone is like ‘Oh My God  it’s really him.’ Then jail clicks back into reality of where you’re at right away.”

Wayne was very happy to announce that there are less guns and more skateboards in the hands of kids in New Orleans. He might need more people though.

How many more The Carter releases you think we will get before September, 27 2018?

Weezy is giving his kids the freedom to be whatever they want to be. “I don’t want to have no influence … ‘Hey you must do this, you must do that.’ Because I didn’t have that and because I didn’t have that I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be and how I wanted to be.”

It seems that Miss Katie and Tune are legitimately friendly. She was super excited to have him back and admitted her favorite song is “How To Love”. She even gave him a Katie branded skateboard.
