There is a Super Bowl about to take place with America’s most beloved quarterback Peyton Manning. The way Richard Sherman has been dominating cameras suggests otherwise.

The Seattle Seahawks cornerback with the loud plays on the ball and even louder post-game interviews recently apologized for his attack towards his rivals and was much more subdued going into a press conference interview on Wednesday.

Obviously the net was still buzzing with his intensified commentary as well as the backlash that came along with it.

When taking into account the fact that Sherman is brash, Black and calls Compton his hometown, the word “thug” has been on the top of adjectives used to describe the passionate 25-year-old.

Reporters posed the question about his sensitivity to the word and he responded lightly with, “The only reason it bothers me is because it seems like it’s the accepted way of calling somebody the N-word nowadays.”

It was a profound statement indeed and ironically mirrored the dramatized scenario of a Beats By Dre commercial he had recently filmed.

“It’s like everyone else said the N-word and they said ‘thug’ and they’re like, ‘Ah, that’s fine.’ That’s where it kind of takes me aback and it’s kind of disappointing because they know; what’s the definition of a thug really?”

At his head coach Pete Carroll’s request, Sherman vowed to tone down his open opinions so as not to be detrimental to the team as they eyed their first Vince Lombardi championship trophy.

Despite his loud demeanor, #25 does walk the talk. He recorded a league-best 8-interceptions this season. Check out Sherman’s video on the next page and see if his thoughts this time around align with those of your own.
