Here’s a piece of apparel to commemorate Black History Month. Boston boutique Bodega collaborated with Canadian sweater company Granted to create a zip cardigan that pays homage to the great Malcolm X.
The human rights activist’s face is woven into the back of the garment, which is entirely made of Canadian wool. Properly placed Afrocentric themed red, black, and green stitching adds a nice accentuating touch to the piece, as does the shawl collar.
Our only gripe is Malcolm X’s complexion — he was fair skinned with red hair, while that isn’t the case on the sweater. It’s the thought that counts though, right?
Patrons will need a pretty penny to cop Bodega and Granted’s brainchild. It retails for $500 and releases Saturday, February 8, at noon EST via the Bodega website. See the “Malcolm X” sweater on the following pages.
