Covers of classic tracks are falling out the sky today. This version of “Bennie And The Jets” by Miguel and Wale was given the green light by Elton John, who’s releasing a 40th anniversary special edition of his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album.
Like any contemporary take on a fan-favorite record, this will be met with scrutiny by lovers of the original. But it’s honestly not bad at all. Miguel and Wale’s take still features John’s heartwarming piano keys, but the instrumentation is much more electronic this time around. The MMG affiliate added his two cent via a verse about a woman who’s conflicted.
Sir Elton will release the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road reissue March 25. Fans will have choice to purchase a deluxe edition, featuring guest appearances from Fall Out Boy, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé and more. Here the updated “Bennie And The Jets” below.
