Sir Mix-A-Lot has always proven himself to be a cultured member of Seattle musical lure since releasing “Posse on Broadway” in 1988. Fast-forward to 2014 and he’s conducting his biggest hit in “Baby Got Back” in front of a black tie audience with the Seattle Symphony. Who ever thought Hip-Hop would take it this far?
The Seattle rap icon brought a smile to a community’s face this past Friday, June 6 as they grieve over a relatively thwarted mass shooting at Seattle Pacific University. Composer Gabriel Prokofiev detailed the extensive process of making this a rap reality on his personal website, which was more than a year in the making.
After performing the record for 20+ years and counting, Mix-A-Lot isn’t naive to the amount of crazy the song brings out of women of all colors, creeds, ages and sizes. Using this knowledge to his advantage, he invited several women up on the stage of Benaroya Hall to join him and the end result was nothing short of monumental.
Mix-A-Lot himself appreciated the honor, calling it “the most fun he’s had in a long time” on his Twitter account.
