One of the best dramas to ever do it is getting a digital makeover for a special return.

HBO is gearing up for a marathon of their acclaimed series, The Wire and is currently in the process of remastering it.

Via The Wrap:

Fans of “The Wire,” rejoice; your series is coming back — and it’s getting a touch-up.

HBO is remastering the David Simon series for HD, which ran from 2002 to 2008, with an eye toward airing a marathon of the series.

The crime drama, which chronicled police investigations of the criminal underbelly of Baltimore, starred Dominic West, Idris Elba, Wendell Pierce and Michael K. Williams, among others.

It is not yet known when the marathon will air. HBO initially planned to launch the marathon in September, however, the episodes are still under review and not yet ready to air.

The Wire marathon will remind fans and those who initially slept on the series that it is one of the greatest television series not to win an Emmy Award.
