With the majority of mainstream rappers glorifying material items and fast lifestyles, Lecrae focuses on delivering his spiritual truth to the masses. DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne asked some real questions leading the Houston native to discuss how he crafts his music, siding with God and more.

1. Charts

Lecrae was the first rapper to top the Gospel charts on Billboard.

2. Informing

Not all of his music is Christian based. He lets his Christian beliefs shape his message.

3. Hip-Hop

Lecrae actually started out as a mainstream rapper until he had what he calls an encounter with Jesus at the age of 19. So when he changed, so did his content.

4. The Turn Up

While he doesn’t smoke he will have a drink once in a while. Additionally he performs frequently at nightclubs.

5. Perception

As he does have his own set of fans that appreciate his message, Lecrae feels that he is discriminated against because of his stance therefore people have a preconceived notion of who he is as a person.

6. The Baby Sitter

Lecrae admits to being molested by his babysitter when he was younger. Surprisingly he holds no bitter feelings against her now.

7. New Fans

Lecrae frequently gets approached by individuals who might not be fans but feel seeing him perform is a confirmation from God of sorts.

8. Schooling

Lecrae graduated with a degree in Electronic Media and is a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
