10. Tory Lanez – “Mama Told Me”
Producer: Ryan Hemsworth
The rising Toronto rapper’s hunger is apparent. Press play above for any further proof.
9. Cozz – “Wait’s Over”
Producer: N/A
With Cozz N Effect on the way, Dreamville’s newest signee gets his thoughts off over a slow instrumental on his latest release.
8. Audio Push – “OTW”
Producer: Beatboy & Hit-Boy
As promised, Audio Push delivered the last freebie track in their weekly song series. Needless to say that this knocking tune ends the show with a bang.
7. OG Maco ft. 2 Chainz – “U Guessed It (Remix)”
Producer: Brandon Thomas
Atlanta rap veteran is clearly paying attention to what’s happening in his city. Maco’s hit is dominating DJ’s sets, permeating radio and is a central topic on the Internets. No wonder Chainz blessed the remix with a proper closing verse.
6. Ka – “Lost Prophet Report”
Producer: Ka
The Brownsville, Brooklyn lyricist pushes his own boundaries on this cut, which Adult Swim premiered as a part of their Singles Series.
5. Wara From The NBHD – “You Must Die”
Producer: Ron Shaw
Up and comer Wara has a penchant for penning thoughtful records. Remember that the cut above is a throwaway, folks.
4. Alex Wiley – “Sexual Dolphin”
Producer: Odd Couple & Carter Lang
Chicago’s own Wiley is one of the more technically proficient newcomers that you’ll hear. Above is a track that displays his flow, breath control, and cadence.
3. Rockie Fresh – “Hesitate”
Producer: Peezy & Cam
Backed by production that interpolates Sampha’s “Hesitant Oath,” the Chicago spitter kicks heartfelt rhymes that anyone chasing their dreams will appreciate.
2. Buddy ft. Snoop Dogg – “Crime Of The Century”
Producer: Christian Rich
This unreleased track would later become the b-side of Earl Sweatshirt’s “Centurion,” but that doesn’t take anything away from the damage that Buddy and Snoop did to the beat.
1. Kendrick Lamar – “i”
Producer: Rahki
Lamar says this track isn’t a single, it’s a statement. And we’d have to agree.
