Actor Jeffrey Wright isn’t waiting for the news of Eric Thomas Duncan’s death to set in to induce panic amongst the American public. He’s embarked on a global campaign dubbed #CrushEbolaNow that involves celebrities raising awareness while keeping their heads dry.
Via Page Six:
“Hunger Games” star Jeffrey Wright has launched the #CrushEbolaNow campaign to fight the disease and drafted Idris Elba, Alicia Keys, Whoopi Goldberg and Forest Whitaker for support.
Wright told us he created a star-studded clip for his campaign during the UN General Assembly, and when he met Naomi Campbell, “She said without hesitation, ‘I’ll be there tomorrow.’”
Campbell wants to donate funds from two charity fashion shows in February to Wright’s Ebola Survival Fund.
Wright next hopes to travel to West Africa to film another PSA about local survivors “to try to humanize the West African story around this outbreak,” he said. “If we get engaged quickly . . . we can crush this thing.”
