The glitz and glamour that comes along with being a high-profile sports star can quickly go capult once the money runs out…and criminal charges begin to file in.
Former Atlanta Hawks player Mookie Blaylock just received 15 years in prison for his singular role in killing a 44-year-old woman by vehicular homocide. While he likely won’t be the last, he certaintly isn’t the first ex-big league star to succumb to the legal system. Off the top of our heads, we found fifteen former professional athletes in prison as we speak.

Rae Carruth
This former Carolina Panther took baby mama drama to new heights in 1999 when he had his pregnant girlfriend murdered after a spat. The child survived and he’s expected to be released in 2018.

Ryan Leaf
Following a stint as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Leaf violated his probabtion by stealing prescription drugs in Montana and was sentenced to five years in prison this past September.
David Megget
The ex-New York Giants running back is currently serving a 30-year prison term because criminal sexual conduct and burglary charges are not O.K.
Javaris Crittenton
After the engaging in gun play with Gilbert Arenas, the ex-Washington Wizard became a Crip, murdered somebody and got an additional drug charge. All allegedly of course.
James Butler
The former super middleweight champion lost his cool and not only murdered his friend Sam Kellerman with a hammer, he burned down his house afterwards. He was sentenced to 29 years in 2006.
