Before today, the average Hip-Hop fan may have only known about Kacy Anne Hill due to her American Apparel campaign. That should probably change now that Def Jam has announced she’s signing with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint.

The video for Hill’s latest single, “Experience” has been on YouTube since April, and it makes it clear that Hill possesses a pretty impressive falsetto. But other than that, who is Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music addition? Here are some fast observations from her Twitter and Instagram feeds and her website.

Kacy Anne Hill is from Los Angeles, California via Phoenix, Arizona.

She was a backup dancer for Kanye West on the Yeezus Tour.

Her first single, “Experience” is one of the first tracks she formally recorded.

Hill says she began pursuing music “by accident.”

Prior to the Def Jam announcement, Hill was most known as a model for American Apparel.

Kacy told Dazed & Confused, “A lot of my music right now is about the genesis or the creation of a person.”

Before 2014, Hill wrote most of her music at her kitchen table instead of in studios.

Hill also told Dazed & Confused she’s a fan of both FKA Twigs and Seinabo Sey.

Kacy’s modeling career began at age 16 when she was offered an internship with a wedding photographer in Phoenix.

Fun fact: Kacy Hill claims she can lick her elbow.

Kacy decided to take a year off from education in 2012 after her high school graduation and move to Los Angeles.

Another fun fact: Kacy wrote “Experience” when she was working at an ice cream store regretting the decision to take a break from school.

In addition to singing, Hill played oboe and saxophone.

Kacy Anne calls her signature nose ring “a product of boredom.”
