Movie fans are chomping at the bit at any new and interesting comic book movie news that may leak. So, when, 36-year-old Tyrese Gibson self-started a campaign to play the lead in DC Comics’ Green Lantern, the Internet and Hollywood instantly took notice.

The former model and Fast and Furious star recently posted numerous photoshopped images of himself in character as John Stewart, the United States Marines trained member of the Green Lantern Corps. With Ryan Reynolds pegged to star as Deadpool in the live cinematic adaptation of the popular Marvel comic, Gibson’s attempt at playing the DC Comics hero is admirable at best.

“I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure,” he captioned in one of his Instagram posts. Warner Brothers and DC Comics are already eying a new film for 2020 and with Tyrese about to show off his chops in another Fast and Furious installment, he could be getting an early start on capturing a coveted role.
