There’s a reason people always warn about mixing friendship and business. A wrong move could mean getting screwed out of both the cash and the friendship.

The parties involved on this list of 12 celebrity friends who feuded over cash may have started out as pals. But once the dust and court cases settled, they were anything but cordial. Keep your friends close and your attorney closer.

50 Cent vs. Game

Among the many charges 50 Cent levied against Game, he included writing the hits “How We Do” and “Hate It Or Love It.” If the allegations are true, good luck getting those royalties.

The-Dream vs. Christina Milian

The-Dream allegedly promised Christina Milian 10% of his royalties from Justin Bieber’s “Baby” as part of their divorce settlement. Somewhere along the lines someone wasn’t happy with that arrangement, and the lawyers got involved. That always ends well.

Kris Humphries vs. Kim Kardashian

Kris Humphries trying to get his $2 million engagement ring back and suing Kim Kardashian for fraud best illustrates the short-lived union between the pair. It’s a thin line between love and hate.

Dame Dash vs. Jim Jones

Harlem unity quickly turned into Instagram insults in November of 2014 when Jim took shots at Dame’s investments and accused him of owing him five bands.

Steve McQueen vs. John Ridley

Ridley denies any beef, so this is either a case of both men being smart enough to publicly diffuse a rift or the media gone wild. Steve McQueen was reportedly feuding with John Ridley over who got the credit for the Oscar-winning screenplay for 12 Years A Slave.

Mo’Nique vs. Lee Daniels

Was Monique denied the part of Cookie Lyon on Empire and blackballed from the Hollywood elite after her Academy Award for Precious? A few of her interviews definitely gave off that impression, although she later walked back those comments.

Terrence Howard vs. Robert Downey Jr.

After playing Rhodey in 2008’s highly profitable Ironman, Howard says he was asked to take a drastic pay cut. He alleges the money he was promised went into Downey’s pocket instead. That will kill a friendship.

R. Kelly vs. Jay Z

It was supposed to be the Best of Both Worlds. Instead, it ended up with Kelly knee deep in legal trouble while Jigga’s friends pepper sprayed him. In 2004, Kelly filed a $75 million lawsuit accusing Jay Z and his associates of threats and violence.

Lee Daniels and Dame Dash

Dame Dash vs. Lee Daniels

Chalk up another one for Dame and Lee Daniels. Dash filed a $25 million suit against Empire co-creator Daniels and claims he’s owed executive producer credits on at least six movies, including The Butler, Precious and The Paperboy.

Kim Zolciak vs. Kandi Burruss

Kandi Burruss has dozens of hits to her credit, while Kim Zolciak has the lone contribution of 2009’s “Tardy for the Party.” Despite that fact, Burruss lost a lawsuit against Zolciak on a technicality, when all signs point to Burruss being involved in some type of way.

Dr. Dre vs. Eazy-E

The legend of Suge Knight was originally born when Eazy-E refused to let Dr. Dre out of a less than favorable contract with Ruthless Records. Eazy alleged he was “convinced” to give Dre his release by a group of armed thugs that included Knight. The late Eazy-E also alleged he was still getting paid off Death Row releases. Since Eazy and Dre reconciled and Suge is busy these days, we’ll never know.
