Fans of A Tribe Called Quest probably know that group member Jarobi White doubles as a master chef in his life away from Hip-Hop. White is taking New York by storm by way of his culinary skills with his new event, “Tribe Taco Tuesdays” in Brooklyn this summer.

The good folks over at DNA Info reported on White’s new venture, which launched recently at the Bed-Vyne Cocktail restaurant. White, who has taken his talents to Atlanta and Washington, D.C. in times past, is based in New York for this current chef incarnation. As part of his Eats, Rhymes and Life concept, White intends to travel to various spots around the country and offer a combination of his love for fine dining and Hip-Hop.

More from DNA Info:

“I call it the total hip-hop approach. I’ll cook at a spot and remix their menus,” White said. “It’s like going on a food tour.”

White, who lives in Bed-Stuy, cooks a rotating variety of tacos every other week with favorites like carne asada, pork belly, chicken and cod.

According to the Tribester, the event is picking up steam with White providing the eats while local DJs spin tunes for the guests.

White, who is paired with Native Tongue affiliate Dres The Black Sheep in the group EvitaN, is also working on a solo debut record.
