It’s 4th of July weekend, which means cookouts. For Black folk and other people of color, this also includes the politics of who made the potato salad and whether or not you deserve to have a plate fixed for you, amongst other nuanced behaviors.
A hashtag called #CookoutNewsNetwork (which seems to have originated with @CerromeRussell) codified a gang of these inside jokes to hilarious effect. Of course, Black Twitter went to town with it.
