DJ Timbuck2, a popular Chicago DJ who advocated on the behalf of local artists, has died at the age of 34. DJ Timbuck2 passed away Saturday (Dec. 19) after battling cancer.

Timothy “DJ Timbuck2” Jones certainly had an impact on the Chicago music scene, as evidenced by the outpouring of condolences from some of the city’s top artists ranging from Chance The Rapper to Kanye West. He also worked for local station WGCI, where he was known for his evening drive-time segment on the station.

WGCI issued a statement regarding Timbuck2’s passing, along with sharing many of the accolades posted onto social media.

From WGCI:

‘Timbuck2 was a premier turntable technician. His creativity and ear for music was unparalleled. Tim loved Chicago and was an ambassador around the world for our music. He leaves a huge void that will be extremely difficult to fill.’
