Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are back in the swing of things. The duo has done well in tackling social topics (i.e. “Same Love”) and they’re keeping in the theme with “White Privilege II,” the follow-up to Macklemore’s 2005 track.
Over the 9-minute song, Macklemore spills what sounds to be a mixture of emotional candor and white guilt. He also name checks fellow white artists who jack Black culture for profit, like Iggy Azalea.
Despite praise for its “powerful” lyrical content, the track is getting mixed reviews. Some accuse Mack of patronizing Black Lives Matter advocates, others appreciate his honesty.
