New Edition: The Movie is really happening (on BET), and some more notable Black actors have joined the cast. Among them, Wood Harris aka Avon Barksdale from The Wire, Duane Martin aka Kyle from Above The Rim and Faizon Love aka Big Worm from Friday

Wood Harris (The Wire, The Breaks), Michael Rapaport (Boston Public, Justified), Real Husbands of Hollywood‘s Faizon Love and Duane Martin, singer/songwriter Tank and Bre-Z (Empire) have joined the cast of BET’s three-part miniseries New Edition: The Movie.

Harris will play Brooke Payne, TankRapaport is Gary Evans, Love will portray Maurice Starr, Martin is Louil Silas, Tank will play Jheryl Busby and Bre-Z is Peanut Bell. They join previously announced cast Bryshere Y. Gray Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Keith Powers, Algee Smith, Woody McClain as New Edition, along with La La Anthony, Yvette Nicole Brown, Monica Calhoun, Lisa Nicole Carson and Sandi McCree.

Wait, Lisa Nicole Carson? Good or bad (hopefully the former), this flick is going to have Black Twitter super lit when it premieres in 2017.

New Edition was the blueprint for the modern boy band, with members launching stellar solo careers—including Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gil. Also, you can’t forget BBD (Bell, Biv Devoe).

New Edition: The Movie is being co-produced by Brooke Payne, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown.
