Donald Trump‘s entire campaign has been built around his claims to become the “greatest jobs president ever” but it appears that there are holes in GOP presidential hopeful’s money-raising game. After raising only $3.1 million in May and loaning himself over $2 million, the trending topic #TrumpSoPoor took off on Twitter.
In comparison, Trump’s Democratic Party rival, Hillary Clinton, began June’s campaign month with $42 million raised. The staggering contrast is amazing when you consider that Trump managed to outwork his party’s more vaunted candidates with less political savvy, apparently, less money.
Donald Trump isn’t literally poor, but this is quite a telling development. On the following pages, we’ve collected some of the best #TrumpSoPoor tweets and counterpoints. Let us know if we missed any of your favorites.
