10 Things We Learned From Tory Lanez On The Breakfast Club

After getting his recent album release I Told You overshadowed by Frank Ocean’s visual album Endless and his actual album, Blonde (no conspiracy theorists, Drake did not pay the Blonde singer to do that on purpose), Tory Lanez is out to make sure that his project doesn’t get lost in the mix.

Today the Toronto artist stopped by the Breakfast Club where he got into a variety of subjects including his “beef” with other Toronto artists (i.e. Drake), growing up a goon, and almost signing to Justin Bieber when he was 17-years-old. That would’ve been weird.

Here are the 10 things we learned about Tory Lanez on The Breakfast Club.

1. Bun B

Before blowing up Tory got the B-Rabbit in 8 Mile treatment and got booed off a show at Warehouse Live in Texas. Unfortunately Bun B was there to witness it. His manager helped him improve his live performances.

2. Justin Beiber

Justin Bieber was going to sign him when Lanez was 17-years-old but their styles clashed so Tory ended up signing with Sean Kingston.

3. Personal Music

He doesn’t condone abortions, but isn’t afraid to talk about those experiences in his music because a lot of people go through that.

4. Across The Border 

When he was 16 he was selling his mixtapes himself in the US during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends to help build his rap back home in the North.

5. No Beef

As far as he’s concerned, he doesn’t have any beef with any Toronto artists, but if anyone has a problem with him that’s different. Says if there was real beef people would start disappearing.

6. All Love

That being said, he “loves the music coming out of my city from everybody” which includes Drake, PartyNextDoor, Weeknd, etc. He supports Toronto music 100%.

7. Juvenile Hell

At 15-16-years-old Tory was 4 cases pending. Good thing for him he turned his life around.

8. Faith

He’s a God fearing person and credits the man in the sky for helping him get on the right path. It ain’t official till God’s in the albums Thank You notes though.

9. Safe Sex

He wants all women to know that he’s not having any kind of sexual intercourse without a condom regardless of how bad you look. No quick come ups at this man’s expense, ladies.

10. Namesake

He came up with Tory Lanez in part from Notorious B.I.G. (Tory) and from a janitor who he played a street racing game with (Lanez). But he might change his name back to his government, Daystar, later down the road.
