Michael Jordan and Charles Oakley are still the best of friends. His Airness finagled a sit down with Oak and Knicks owner James Dolan that included NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

Last week, Oak was dragged out of Madison Square Garden by security and arrested after an altercation at a Knicks game. The fallout has been ugly, with the much reviled Dolan insinuating that Oak is an alcoholic while the Knicks legend has said he did nothing wrong. and that he has been disrespected by the organization he played his heart out for.

While Oakley says that he has been disrespected by the organization he played his heart out for, the support from his peers and current NBA players has been overwhelmingly in his favor. .

Silver released a statement noting that he met with Oakley and Dolan yesterday at the league headquarters, with Jordan participating by phone.

“It is beyond disheartening to see situations involving members of the NBA family like the one that occurred at Madison Square Garden this past week,” said Silver.

It seems like Oakley is no longer banned from The Garden.

“Both Mr. Oakley and Mr. Dolan were apologetic about the incident and subsequent comments, and their negative impact on the Knicks organization and the NBA,” continued Silver. “Mr. Dolan expressed his hope that Mr. Oakley would return to MSG as his guest in the near future.”

True.

But the fact that a former player as loved as Oakley was treated the way he was or even banned from the Garden in the first place speak volumes, about the owner.
