Bass player extraordinaire Thundercat is back with another album, Drunk.

While we always got the sense that Thundercat may have been drunk on something while writing and recording, he confirms it with his latest album title.

Drunk gives us more of the weird lyrics over lush music beds that Thundercat is known for. Especially on the album’s first track “Captain Stupidho” where he sings, “I feel weird, Comb your beard, brush your teeth; Still feel weird, Beat your meat, go to sleep.”

He gets even weirder on “A Fan’s Mail” when he sings about turning into a cat and actually meowing on the track.

But, ‘Cat also takes us to some more somber places on songs like “Lava Lamp” and “Jethro” where he muses on death two tracks in a row.

With his profile rising in the Hip-Hop world, Thundercat finally decided to feature some rappers on his project. Kendrick Lamar, who recruited him to play on To Pimp A Butterfly, makes an appearance on “Walk On By” with Wiz Khalifa having a cameo on “Drink Dat.”

Checking in at 23 tracks deep, this is Thundercat’s longest album to date, but the songs rarely go beyond the three minute mark with a couple of them being interludes that hover under or around 60 seconds long.

If you needed something to float and chill to this weekend, this album is right on time. You’re guaranteed to find at least four favorite songs instantly. Listen below.
