The police officer who shot and killed Tamir Rice—a 12-year-old Black kid who was playing with a toy gun—has been fired.

Reports the New York Times:

Timothy Loehmann, the Cleveland police officer who fatally shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014, was fired on Tuesday, the city announced at a news conference.

A second officer, who was driving the patrol car, Frank Garmback, will be suspended for 10 days beginning Wednesday.

In January, it was announced that the two officers as well as a third officer, William Cunningham, would face administrative charges from the department.

It’s 2017, why did it take so long for the officer to get fired? This is where we remind you that a grand jury decided not to indict the killer officers involved, nor did they even vote on doing so.

Needless to say, the Internet is not holding their breath that justice will be served. Peep some reactions below and on the following pages.

Why can’t Black kids be kids without fear of getting killed by someone who is supposed to serve and protect?
