As Dave Chappelle continues to flourish in his historic comeback he is keeping close to the community. The comedian has just announced that he is donating $50,000 to the Flint water crisis.

The Half Baked funnyman had failed to show to a previous event benefiting Flint in 2016 when he accepted a last minute invite to attend The Oscars from Chris Rock. While closing a recent show at The Whiting in Flint, Dave shared with the crowd of 2,000 that he intended to make up for the no-show.

Chappelle announced that he would be passing his appearance fee on to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint which focuses on assisting children who were exposed to lead water poisoning. “I want you to know that just by coming to see me you supported this city; I’m not taking a dime” he explained.

Dave is not new to community endeavors; most recently he urged the police department of his hometown of Yellow Spring, OH to show prudence while appointing its’ new police chief.

Chappelle is working on a third comedy special for Netflix that is slated to debut later this year.
