Even though he’s signed to Roc Nation and does have a cult following, Vic Mensa is one of the games most underrated rappers. With the release of his latest album, The Autobiography, and his constant dragging of DJ Akademiks, Vic’s name has been buzzing as of late and today drops by The Breakfast Club to speak candidly on a few things.
From admitting the simple reason behind his infamous Lil Yachty diss line to why he doesn’t like DJ Akademiks, Vic Mensa proves that he’s one of the few rappers in the game that has no hairs on his tongue.

1. No Sweat
Even though Jay-Z called him a “once in a lifetime artist” he doesn’t feel any pressure to live up to expectations.

It wasn’t until that Vic was getting harassed by police that he began to understand the aggression and rebellion of Hip-Hop music.

He started listening to Pac, Biggie, and Jay-Z in 2003.

When Jay-Z told him to drop the Lil Yachty diss bars, Vic was being stubborn and refused to do so until he realized that tearing down another Black man for no reason is part of what’s holding the culture back.

5. Lil Yachty Diss
The only reason he ever dissed Lil Yachty in the first place was because it rhymed with “Illuminati.”

6. DJ Akademiks
Vic says that he “doesn’t want to drag DJ Akademiks around Chicago anymore” but does feel he’s a “phony” and “doesn’t have a place in the culture past being a “parasite.” Damn!

8. Police Hate
He’s had police in Lollapalooza tell attendees not to go to Vic Mensa shows. The hate is real. Vic maintains that he doesn’t hate all police, he just hates “crooked cops” and the system that enables them to get away with their crimes.

Vic says that he and Chance The Rapper are talking again. He says that Chance is his brother and sometimes “brothers fight.”
