Today’s Google Doodle is for the culture. The Google homepage is a homage to what many consider Hip-Hop’s birthday, August 11, 1973, when DJ Kool Herc threw a birthday party for his sister at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. in The Bronx.

The legendary Fab 5 Freddy serves as the narrator and host. Besides the Google Doodle proper (hooked up by Cey Adams), it’s also an interactive experience that includes the ability to mix and scratch records.

Some of the records available include breaks from Betty Wright “Clean Up Woman,” Skull Snaps (“It’s A New Day”) and The Incredible Bongo Band (“Apache”).

The more users go through the interactive experience, the more access they get to knowledge about early Hip-Hop pioneers.

Very dope. Check it out right here.
