Prince may be gone but his legacy will live forever. The Purple One’s concert film Sign o’ The Times was purchased by cable network Showtime, so best believe his legend will continue to grow by reaching a new audience.

Never issued on DVD, Sign ‘o The Times was originally created to accompany the 1987 double album of the same name (Prince was droppin’ double albums before it became a trend amongst your favorite rappers by the way). That album churned out hits like “U Got That Look,” “If I Was Your Girlfriend,” and “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man.”

Sign ‘o The Times was Prince’s ninth studio album but first solo project after the disbandment of The Revolution, so it was a big deal.

PageSix reports that the 84-minute concert doc was filmed mostly at Prince’s Paisley Park Studios with the rest shot on tour in the Netherlands and Belgium.

It’s just a damn shame no one recorded that infamous game of ball between Prince’s and crew against Charlie Murphy and his posse. Rest in power to both men.

Check out Sign o’ The Times September 16 and bask in the legend of the kind of musical genius that probably won’t ever be seen again (sorry Kanye).
