Like a true coward, Donald Trump let Attorney General Jeff Sessions announce today that his administration was ending DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) after six more months. The policy prevents over 800K working children of immigrants who were brought here illegally from being deported—and social media is slamming Cheeto’s decision.
Note, DACA recipients are people who only know America as home who know are uncertain of their futures in this country. Essentially, Trump punted and wants to let Congress figure it out.
“The program known as DACA that was effectuated under the Obama administration is being rescinded,” announced Sessions.
Sessions, who said the program exerted to much power by the President (and still refers to people as “illegal aliens”), added, “The Department of Justice cannot defend this overreach.”
Keep in mind, Cheeto pardoned lifelong bigot ex-Sheriff Arpaio, who committed a crime. Real Presidential. #sarcasm
The reaction was swift as entertainers, politicians, business leaders and more immediately began slamming the decision.
We collected the most poignant reactions below and on the following pages.
