Big L’s legacy continues to shine decades later. The late Harlem MC’s family recently launched a website to commemorate his Hip-Hop legend.
Born Lamont Coleman, his estate has created an online e-commerce site where fans can purchase official merchandise and relive in the Harlem lyricist’s finest moments.
BigLLife.com features an assortment of branded clothing including headbands, t-shirts, hats and sweatshirts. According to the Bio page all proceeds will go to unnamed after-school programs in Harlem and throughout New York City.
Also housed on the site are a catalog of videos from the “Ebonics” rapper including his showstopping freestyle session with Jay Z on the Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show. Fans can also listen to his posthumous 2010 albumĀ Return Of The Devil’s SonĀ free of charge.
For those not in the know, L Corleone was one the nicest MC’s ever to touch the microphone when it came to lyricism and wordplay. He would release his debut album Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous in 1995. While the LP failed to garner him commercial success it is now considered an underground classic by many.
In 1999 he was murdered in Harlem in a shooting. For many years Gerard Woodley was thought to be the suspected killer but due to a lack of evidence he was never convicted. In 2016 Woodley was murdered in Harlem.
