Niecy Nash’s acting resume stretches back more than a decade and with the work she’s putting in y’all can expect it to stretch a few decades more.
Today (June 8), the Claws actress took her comedic behind down to The Breakfast Club where she continued to shine and grind like a woman with a purpose.
Sitting down with the three amigos of the morning, Nash opened up about her love of marriage, how her mother’s depression got her started on the road to stardom and going vegan.
Here are the 8 things we learned from Niecy Nash on The Breakfast Club.
1. Nailing It Down
For the show, Niecy goes through four nail changes a day. Talk about keeping up appearances. And yes, they’re custom press ons.

2. Ideal Wifey
When Niecy began to bring home the bacon she decided to invest in her ex-husband’s dreams and paid for him to go to school in London to study in seminary. Unfortunately later on they got divorced. Still though props to Nash for trying to help her significant other realize his dreams.
3. Love Being In Love
Niecy Nash admits that after getting divorced she wanted to get married again to someone else because she “love being married.” We hope she believes in that pre-nup though.
4. Karrechue
Niecy Nash admits that she helped Karrechue get cast on Claws. She says Karrechue had to audition a few times but ended up locking the role of Virginia down, and no, none of her acting peers were mad at her for putting Karrechue on above them.
5. No Pork on My Fork
Since August of last year to February of this year, Niecy went Vegan until she started eating a little bit of fish. She says she will “never” go back to meat.
6. Personal Tragedies
Niecy Nash reveals that she watched her mother get shot in the back by her boyfriend with a sawed off shotgun. She also says the day before her 23rd birthday her brother was shot and killed in high school. Those are reasons she helped start up Mother Against Violence in Schools, but her mother got too overwhelmed with dealing with those tragedies.
7. Mama’s Ray of Sunshine
Niecy Nash says that when her mother fell into depression she began to perform comedy acts at the foot of her bed. Her mother eventually got well enough to go out and get the neighbors to come to the house and watch Niecy perform. And that’s how a star was born.
8. Closure
Having gone through two life-scarring tragedies, Niecy says she lives for closure. Though the guy who shot her mother committed suicide, she was denied attendance to his funeral (she almost went crazy when she say a lookalike in the streets a year later), and the guy who killed her brother was eventually let of out prison only to kill his wife. She’s patiently waiting for the day that he ends up behind bars for life.
