Lil Wayne MTV Unplugged

Lil Wayne is officially set to the join the long list of celebrities featured on an episode of MTV Unplugged now that the Young Money rapper was confirmed Thursday by MTV Execs for the live music special.

Premiering across MTV2, MTV and MTV.com on Sunday, June 12 at 9 PM ET/PT MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged will feature acoustic renditions of his hits.

Speaking on the addition of Lil Wayne to the “MTV Unplugged” family, Amy Doyle, MTV’s EVP of Music and Talent released a statement saying,

“Lil Wayne is an amazing choice for Unplugged as he is at hip-hop’s forefront — leading a new generation of artists whose appeal spans across music genres and playlists. Lil Wayne’s skills, influence, and catalog are a powerful addition to the legacy of artists who have rocked the ‘Unplugged’ stage.”

Unplugged has previously featured Eric Clapton, Nirvana, Mariah Carey, R.E.M., Jay-Z and Bob Dylan.
