Daryl Hawks Dead

NBC 5 Chicago sportscaster Daryl Hawks was found dead in a hotel room Thursday morning in Atlanta.

Daryl Hawks was covering the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks NBA playoff Game in Atlanta.

Hawks’ body was found after he did not appear during the Bulls’ morning shootaround.

According to NBC Chicago, Hawks joined News 5 Chicago in July 2008 as a sports anchor and reporter.

“We are all stunned right now,” said Frank Whittaker, Station Manager and Vice President of News. “Daryl was a great member of our sports team, and was so excited about covering the Bulls during this playoff run.”


Daryl Hawks was only 38. He leaves behind a wife, Sandy, and three kids.
