Talking about why things didn’t work out at Atlantic Records, JL says it feel apart because “they didn’t know what to do with a Joyner Lucas” and the label structure didn’t fit in with how “I like to do things because I like to work in real time.” He explained that he and his manager would “fight” for budgets and marketing that the label couldn’t comprehend. Because of his experience, Lucas isn’t looking to sign with another major label again unless he structures the deal to his liking.
