What is Fried Kool-Aid?

A new trend is popping up at a number of local fairs across the country, fried Kool-Aid.

Created by “Chicken” Charlie Boghosian, the Kool-Aid concoction was sold at a California fair where an estimated 400 to 600 orders served.

The first weekend of the San Diego County Fair Boghosian’s food stall went through 150 pounds of Kool-Aid powder and 1,500 pounds of flour.

“That’s about double the rate of previous debut items,” Boghosian told Sign On San Diego.

“It starts off tart and tangy, and then finishes really sweet… I love this stuff,” a customer added.

“Chicken” Charlie previously debuted the Krispy Kreme chicken sandwich—a piece of fried chicken in between two donuts, fried barbecue ribs, fried Klondike Bars, fried thin mints and fried Pepsi.
