The judge presiding over YNW Melly's upcoming murder trial has sided with prosecutors to allow the jury to grant the death penalty with an 8-4 vote instead of needing to vote for it unanimously. The ruling comes after a new law was signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in April to lower the threshold.
The rapper's attorney requested an early release for his client, claiming that he wasn't getting adequate treatment for his symptoms.
YNW Melly is already in a suspect predicament since he is currently in jail awaiting his trial for murder. To add salt to the struggle, the Florida raper claims he has tested positive for COVID-19.
