The FBI has issued a warning to American citizens and permanent residents to not travel to Haiti as the country is gripped by a surge in gang violence. The directive was also aimed at those residing in South Florida. The agency has reported a 300 percent increase in kidnappings since the year began when compared to the same time period last year.


The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, is stating that the unprecedented rise in gang violence in Haiti is severely impacting the nation's stability on multiple fronts. His remarks came as Special Representative Helen La Lime addressed the Security Council on Tuesday, detailing the effects of gang violence and control on the nation's populace and calling for more assistance for the national police.


Former United Nations leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Kofi Annan has died. The Ghanian national served as the UN chief from 1997 to 2006 and later worked on efforts to bring peace to Syria and the surrounding region.


Actress Dascha Polanco is on a mission to help the people of Haiti. The Orange is the New Black star and newly-named United Nations global ambassador, traveled to the Island country earlier this month on what became a life-changing journey.

The father of slain Missouri teenager Michael Brown Jr. traveled to Geneva with family and a legal team to seek justice in his son’s killing in Ferguson. The group traveled to the United Nations and addressed a committee in hopes that some traction can be gained in the explosive case.
