In 1991, in an apparent attempt to get his name popping in the hood, Vanilla Ice’s label allegedly instigated the publication of a fake biography on the rapper who was already exaggerating his past. The book included claims the Van Winkle had attended school with Luther Campbell and grew up in the hood.
After being put on front street and called out as a liar, Ice wrote his own book to set he record straight.
