Young Money/ Cash Money Tour In The Works
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Harlem Hood' Goes Green
Monday, November 23rd, 20092010 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Harlem, New York. Known as the birth place of the Black artistic revolution, the Harlem Renaissance, denizens of this historic New York hollow have seen living conditions decline to a standard of living that would make so called “real” Americans cringe if they were forced to live there.
But help is on the way for the dilapidated domiciles, which rest from Lenox Ave to Seventh Avenue.
The housing row will make history as the first public housing block to undergo Green upgrades.
The Rose Smart Growth Investment Fund, who owns the buildings, is looking to take advantage of some federal stimulus funds via the Green Retrofit Program, which would award the group nearly $3 million after the work is finished.
Plans to install green boilers, solar roof panels, and brand new energy-saving devices in all 198 of the units will begin at the end of the year.
Now who says that good things cannot come from underprivileged places?
News Personality Found Guilty of Spousal Abuse
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Dominic Carter, cable news personality and political talking head extraordinaire, has been convicted in the attempted assault of his wife, Marilyn Carter.
The move comes as a shock to fans of the longtime New York television staple, who has become the indelible voice of truth and reason as it pertains to local and state politics.
The decision stems from an incident that occurred nearly one year ago, after 52-year-old Marilyn told local authorities of her husband's abusive ways, claiming that he hit her. Photos of Mrs. Carter, that highlighted a swollen lip, bruised legs, arms, and a cut ear, convinced court officials that she was indeed telling the truth. Strangely enough, she later recanted the entire ordeal after taking the witness stand.
Carter was officially charged with third-degree assault after it was maintained that Marilyn had not sustained “impairment of physical condition or substantial pain.”
The star of “Inside City Hall” is facing a maximum of three months in prison, a lightly sobering sentence that lawyers say he plans to appeal.
NYPD Fatally Shoots Teen 11 Times
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Members of the NYPD shot and killed a teenager in Queens, Saturday after shooting him 11 times.
18-year-old Dashawn Vasconcellos, died of gunshot wounds to the torso, neck and extremities. According to chief NYPD spokesman Paul J. Browne, police fired a total of 14 times with 11 of those bullets hitting the teen.
The boy and two of his friends were leaving Bayswater Park in Far Rockaway around 11:30 p.m. when they were spotted by police. When police approached the boys to question them, Vasconcellos ran and was pursued by three officers. He then turned and pointed a 9mm semiautomatic pistol at them and was shot and killed after being told to drop the gun.
He was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Why did it take 11 bullets to get the boy to drop the gun? That's ridiculous, unnecessary force strikes again!
How reminiscent of Oscar Grant and Sean Bell....smh.
Ku Klux Klan Rally At Ole Miss!?!?! Why Am I Not Surprised…
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Nearly one dozen cowards in white, and other various hued, sheets defiantly protested on the steps of Fulton Chapel which is located on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
The belligerent bigots met briefly before the Ole Miss Rebels waged a gridiron battle against their overpowering opposition in the 10th ranked LSU Tigers, a savvy move that guaranteed that the racist Neanderthals would receive plenty of press attention.
What was the hoopla all about? None other than “Dixie,” the classic southern battle chant that has been a source of white-southern pride since before the infamous “War Between The States,” of which members of the Mississippi's White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has been waging a very low key but public war to protect.
University officials moved to ban the song from football games after hearing the fans refused to abandon singing or reciting the tune's racially tinged ending, “the South will rise again.”
Around 250 anti-Klan protestors were on hand to show support. The move was made to unify everyone on campus by placing relics of its intolerant past firmly in the past which would allow the university, to this day known for its racist climate, to work toward a future brightened by equality.
Protesting members of the Klan report that they were protesting to decry the lost Southern symbolism that once embodied everything that used to be Ole Miss.
Rick Ross' Triple Cs Take Shots at KRS-One's Past
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Since Nas dropped Hip Hop Is Dead back in 2006, many of the 90s era of rap has tossed in their two cents echoing the sentiment that today's age of Hip Hop has become too saturated with imitators and not enough innovation.
KRS-One recently made remarks towards the Def Jam label around the time of the Hip Hop Honors which was celebrating Def Jam's 25th anniversary. Although he stated that the brand has helped to revolutionize rap, it has also been the catalyst in destroying the genre.
“Def Jam is the dopest label in Hip Hop, in the culture of Hip Hop. There really would be no Hip Hop as we know it today if it wasn't for Def Jam, but you don't get that respect (more...)
Lincoln University to Hefty Students: Lose Weight or You Won't Graduate!
Monday, November 23rd, 2009“Lose weight to graduate” is the mantra that administrators at Lincoln University are shouting to undergraduate students that are on the cusp of receiving their degrees.
Designed to combat the health devouring monster known as obesity, which is especially prevalent within the Black community, faculty and staff at the Philadelphia Historically Black College have instituted a program on campus aimed to force students to shed pounds at the risk of not being able to graduate when the time comes to do so.
"We know we're in the midst of an obesity epidemic," explained chairman of Lincoln's department of health, physical education and recreation, James L. DeBoy. "We have an obligation to address this head on, knowing full well there's going to be some fallout."
Though obviously created in good spirit, the move comes as a rude awakening for many clinically obese students at the campus, of which, many are in the midst of their senior year.
Most argue that the mandate only singles out bigger students, whereas, if it were actually meant to increase the health awareness of students on campus by promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle, all students would be involved, not just the ones that appear to be fat or in need of a “change.”
According to clinical standards, a normal body mass index ranges from 18.5 to 24.9 with anyone ranging above those figures considered medically obese. Lincoln Students that reside among that range are required to successfully take “Fitness for Life,” which can be classified as a glorified gym class that meets for three hours a week.
As of the start of Fall semester, 16% of Lincoln's senior class has not had their BMI taken or attempted to complete the course.

"Pop Killer"
It looks like old wounds heal slow as Canibus has set his sights back on Eminem to release another diss track at the Detroit native.
Rumored to be titled “Pop Killer," the rapper, alongside another rapper known as DZK, digs up the past beef as he goes in on Mr. Mathers.
“I'ma fry you on behalf of Mariah and Michael, put you back on dem drugs, make you suicidal. You can't shut the record down, n*gga it's viral.”
For those that don't know the history, beef between the two reportedly started back in 1998 before Shady was even signed. Em states that he was approached by Canibus and Wyclef Jean and (more...)
Man Gets Life In Prison For Scaring Woman To Death
Monday, November 23rd, 2009A North Carolina man will never see the light of day again after being found guilty of scaring a 79-year old grandmother to death.
21-year old Larry Whitfield was found not guilty of murder Friday in the death of Mary Parnell last year. Jurors did find him guilty, however, of causing her death by kidnapping, and that carries an automatic life sentence.
According to prosecutors for the case, Whitfield was looking for a place to hide after a robbery and broke into Parnell's home causing her to have a heart attack. While he never touched the grandmother, he did cause the heart trauma and never called for help.
Damn shame. See why crime doesn't pay?!
