Caster Semenya To Keep Gold Medal

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

The story of South African sprinter Caster Semenya was long and drawn out filled with questions and speculation.

As previously reported, Semenya left spectators in an uproar after suddenly breaking her own personal record in July and then dusting her competition in Berlin's IAAF World Champions weeks later.

Rumors swirled that the 18-year-old  was actually a man in hiding or a person born with both male and female parts and she was therefore subjected to various gender tests to decipher if she was truly a woman.

Now as the buzz surrounding the young runner dies down, the results are in…but we'll never know the answers.

Caster will be allowed to keep her 800-meter gold medal from the IAAF World Championships and  luckily for her will be allowed to keep the results of her testing to herself.

Along with the medal and her dignity she'll be allowed to keep the prize money allocated from her win.

The Sports Ministry (Who I had no idea existed) spoke out in the young girl's favor saying,

“Whatever scientific tests were conducted legally within the IAAF regulations will be treated as a confidential matter between patient and doctor.”

Good for her, you go girl!

I think…..

Mississippi Governor Wants To Merge Three HBCUs

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Down in good old Mississippi the governor is looking to save the state money and proposing brash and controversial budget cuts.

Governor Haley Barbour revealed a new plan Monday to merge eight universities into five and reduce the number of school districts. In particular he's proposing merging the states' three Historically Black Colleges into one.

If Governor Barbour's plan is elected, students at Alcorn State University and Mississippi Valley State University would join their rivals at Jackson State University.

According to the governor however, none of the schools would be closed. Instead the state would save money in administrative jobs and” eliminate duplication in academic offerings.”

In the understatement of the year Governor Barbour spoke out about his new plan saying,

“Nothing about this budget is going to be popular.”

Governor Haley Barbour

Uhhh ya think?

To be fair the man's plan is frugal. He proposes spending only $5.5 billion which is $715 million less than the state originally budgeted for the current year.

Students at the rival schools shouldn't fret just yet however. Members of the Mississippi house and senate often ignore the governor's plans. There is speculation however that lawmakers may go along with it because of the poor economy.

I'm sorry but if I were in school I'd be upset, imagine if they tried to merge Hampton and Norfolk State!

I don't care if both schools offer the same classes, I would never take classes at Norfolk! Gross!

Sigel Sends A Few More Darts At Jigga (Video)

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Beans is taking no pause in his stabs at his former boss Jay-Z. Spitting a few bars, Beans went in, saying.

“You's a work of art man, this boy all petty. Type to not feed the workers because he grubbed already. Noodle I had the sauce, we could have made spaghetti. But I'm a shine on my own, I'm a star already.”

This is getting interesting but Sigel please don't make a whole album going at Hove. It's entertaining but no one will pay for that. Do what you did on The B. Coming and bring it up to 2010 and you'll be alright.

Raekwon, Ghostface and Method Man Album Pushed Back

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

The upcoming collaboration album between old team Wu will not be coming to light, at least not this year. The forthcoming project from Raekwon, Ghostface and Method Man has officially been canned and will not see its fourth quarter release.

As previously reported Meth eagerly dished out details on the album's existence claiming that each counterpart had three songs a piece to contribute to the end result. Now unfortunately for fans still salivating from their “House of Flying Daggers” collabo, (more...)

Jay-Z Gets First Number One Record

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Shawn Carter's run as the hottest MC in the game is continuing to seem more and more fitting as he continues to break records and shatter feats with his music. Jay-Z's Blueprint III album was a widespread success and led to him breaking Elvis's record for the most number one albums.

Now Jay's back on the charts with his fourth No. 1 song. This trail to the top is special however, considering that (more...)
