Activist Devin Robinson Calls For Boycott Of Non-Black Owned Beauty Supply Stores

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

The plight of a Black woman takes new heights when she takes part in the time old tradition of going to a beauty supply store.

Millions of us have the same story of being followed watched and monitored in the stores often by people who know nothing about us or our fascination with the very product they sell.

Chris Rock recently highlighted the struggle of Black women to maintain and obsess over something as simple as tresses in his film “Good Hair” and while Chris made his point on the big screen, another man is stepping up to do the same in communities nationwide.

Although he has less notoriety and less fame, Professor and Black activist Devin Robinson has started a national boycott of non-Black owned beauty supply stores to send a message. The message he hopes to send is one of equal treatment, one of fair (more...)

Atlanta Teacher Puts Hit Out On Student

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Clayton County's School system is no stranger to scandal, especially with their latest jaunt into lunacy, proving that the ignorance that landed the sub-par school system into hot water only one year ago, is here to stay.

In their most recent foray into the ridiculous, county leaders within the school system are investigating allegations that a teacher actually attempted to have a student “hit,” murdered in exchange for money, by another student.

Randolph Forde, a math teacher at Mundy's Mill High School, was put on administrative leave, a result of the investigation and of several other inappropriate action taken against one particular student.

“ The teacher threatened to hit him in his f*cking mouth,” said Terrence Madden, lawyer for the student involved in the incident while speaking on one of Forde's threats.

County records show that Forde, who also questioned the 16-year-old teen's sexuality by asking if he was gay, was arrested last month on charges that say he made terrorist threats. His bond was posted at the price of $10,000.

Parents of the teen are asking that the special education teacher be terminated; his future as an educator lays in the hands of Clayton County's School Board.

NAACP Says Pittsburgh Schools Equivalent To "Apartheid Education"

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

“Apartheid Education” is what the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the NAACP, feels is the appropriate example to describe Pittsburgh's public education system, and furthermore, explain the educational divide that separates the city's Black and White students like a chasm forged with falling meteors.

The famed organization marched in a protest through Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood, hoping to spread their insight on the separate and unequal educational system that has disturbingly become the norm within the city.

Recently, several members of Pittsburgh's board of education have spoken out about closing some of the city's schools. Unsurprisingly, the schools chosen were all sub-par, low-grade learning facilities; the “Black” schools.

In response to the NAACP's allegations, Superintendent Mark Roosevelt offered an explanation into the possible move by saying that there might not even be any need to take any action at all.

“We don't even have a plan,” said Roosevelt to local media. “ Some consultants came forward with some recommendations based on values of buildings, but there are no school closings planned. We are months away from bringing a plan forward, no less the board making decisions.”

Snoop Dogg Addresses Alleged Diss to Lil Wayne on “Protocol”

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

“You ever heard of the song “Pimp Slap” where I went after Suge Knight?  If I got issues, I go after a n*gga's mother**kin head.”

Perception is everything and is the sole factor as to how people are viewed in life.  Whether in the work place or just out and about, the way a person chooses to carry his/herself is looked on as a spectator's sport from those around that create their own deductions from what they believe they see.

As Snoop Dogg continues to promote his upcoming release Malice N Wonderland, there has been misrepresented perception as it pertains to a song titled “Protocol” where he raps such lyrics as:

“Gangstas don't kiss, we get old and (more...)

Dame Dash Reflects on Roc-A-Fella

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

“I was like everybody's manager.  I guess on that respect, I might have spoiled them.”

The worst part about building an enterprise is when trouble begins to brew and a person is forced to just sit back and watch as everything they built and worked for, crumbles in front of them.  The feeling is magnified when a person comes to the realization that they can't do anything about it.

With the news of the rift between Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z, it's sad to see where they all came in and now look at what everything has become.  The legacy of Roc-A-Fella and everything that it stood for was shattered and surprising information is showing that  all these alleged friendships may have just been business deals in the end.

Dame Dash has caught the blunt trauma as he has been labeled the reason behind the Dynasty falling after bringing in the Diplomats which fueled (more...)
