HHWired Exclusive: B.O.B. Breaking Barriers to Bring Universal Sound

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

A statement that continues to be challenged is the fact that the youth are indeed the future and should have a voice in today to dictate what will happen tomorrow.  Regarded as being immature, the people of tomorrow aren't always given the needed to push to showcase their potential and share their opinions.

In the music world an outlet is provided and many have taken advantage.  Up-and-coming rapper Bobby Ray is one artist that has made sure that he can leave footprints in the genre with his distinct sound.

Separating himself from the pact, the 21-year-old rapper comes off as a jack of all trades as he raps, sings, produces and plays various musical instruments.  Just being called an artist would be an understatement for the young sensation.

After a show, HipHopWired was able to catch up with the rapper as he shared his own purpose in music and how he has brought in all races and genders with his musical offerings.

STD Rates Hit An Alarming New High

Monday, November 16th, 2009

America seems to be going through a second sexual revolution of sorts, with this foray into one of man's most carnal acts proving to be more harmful than good.

A recent study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions showed that the spread of sexually transmitted diseases is steadily continuing to rise after an internal report showed that reported Chlamydia cases broke a CDC record last year.

2008 witnessed 1.2 million new Chlamydia cases, beating the old record of 1.1 million set in 2007, which made history as the most recorded instances for that particular disease in history.

Another STD, Syphilis, has also experienced a jump in numbers. Nearly eliminated 10 years ago, there was 13,500 newly recorded cases is 2008, an increase of 2,000 cases from statistics given just one year before that.

According to the study, both gay and heterosexual men were the most likely to contract either sickness.

In a similarly related study, the CDC also discovered that the most religious states were also the states with the highest birthrates.

Mississippi topped the list.

Another Week, More Evidence Of Police Abuse

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Christmas almost came early for Daniel Saunders. The 46-year-old man was mistakenly released early from jail after having been arrested for breaking into a church and spreading his hepatitis C infected blood throughout the House of Christ.

Footage of three members of Seattle PD attempted to apprehend the nefarious fiend as he strolled from the evidence storage room; that is where things took a turn for the worse.

Video footage from surveillance cameras showed officer assaulting the mane for nearly two minutes in an effort to subdue him. Needless to say, he was adequately roughed up.

Andrew Magee, Saunders' attorney, is contemplating filing a civil-rights lawsuit against all officers whom were involved, the judge that released him, and the King County Prosecutors Office.

In other police news, officers in Lake Wales, Florida are being investigated for a traffic stop that nearly ended in a riot after dozens of Lake Wales residents rushed local authorities as they attempted to arrest three individuals.

The anger induced crowd took their red-blooded fervor to police headquarters, where a record number of citizen complaints about the behavior of those assigned to protect and serve were issued.

Evidence of the incident was captured via in-dash cameras mounted with patrol units and Taser-installed video captures devices.

The two suspects are still free. . .

Update: Mother Of Missing Toddler Charged With Child Prostitution, Toddler Found Dead

Monday, November 16th, 2009

5-year-old Shaniya Davis's body was discovered today on the side of a road near the city of Sanford, North Carolina.

Antoinette Nicole Davis, the mother of a toddler missing in North Carolina, is facing charges of child prostitution, human trafficking, child abuse and filing a false police report.

5-year-old Shaniya Davis had been missing since Tuesday when a surveillance camera captured the child being carried into a hotel room with a man. That man has since been identified as Mario Andrette McNeill who admitted to taking the child and now faces kidnapping charges. Authorities have not said whether or not McNeill and Davis knew each other. Police did not find Shaniya in the hotel room, nor could police dogs pick up her scent.

According to arrest documents cited by local newspaper, The Fayetville Observer, Davis “knowingly provided Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in “sexual servitude” and she “permitted an act of prostitution.”

What kind of mother would do something like this to their own baby?!

This case is so, so sad!

Frozen Cash Congressman Sentenced To 13 Years For Corruption Charges

Monday, November 16th, 2009

As recently reported, Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson was convicted of corruption after federal authorities found $90 thousand dollars in cash, stashed in the freezer at his home. Well after having his day in court, Jefferson was sentenced on Friday to 13 years in prison for charges which included taking bribes.

The sentence marks the longest term ever given to a congressman for bribery and prosecutors called his corruption the most extensive in the history of Congress.

Currently appealing the decision, Jefferson served as a Democratic representative for New Orleans for nearly 20 years. U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis II also commented that public corruption was “a cancer on the body politic. There must be some sort of greed virus that attacks those in power.”

According to The Associated Press, Jefferson was allowed to remain free until a hearing next week. Prosecutors want him to begin serving his sentence immediately, while the defense wants Jefferson to remain free while he appeals his conviction.

Jefferson was also ordered to forfeit roughly $470,000 in bribery proceeds — the government expects to seize Jefferson's retirement savings and other assets to enforce the judgment. Jefferson, meanwhile, has filed for bankruptcy protection and his wife is claiming rights to some of those assets.

Jefferson was convicted in August of 11 counts, including bribery and racketeering, and acquitted on five others, including the one most closely associated with the money in his freezer.

All I can say is know when to say when…

Body Of Chicago School Board President Found In River

Monday, November 16th, 2009

The body of Chicago school board President Michael Scott was found floating in the Chicago river. His death comes as a surprising twist of fate as the well known administrator had vanished hours before.

According to police, Scott's body was found near the Merchandise Mart, early Monday in the River North neighborhood, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Scott was reported missing from his home in Monroe on Sunday. His blue Cadillac was found nearby and towed away from the scene. An autopsy will be performed today to determine the exact cause of death.

His good friend Reverend Jesse Jackson spoke out about his friend's death to local news outlets saying,

“Everyone thought Michael was their guy. People are so very sad. .. . The suddenness of it all -- midday has become midnight. The sun has been eclipsed."

Is it just me or does it seem like violence is growing rampantly in Chicago? This is ridiculous! Something's gotta change.
