Violence Shuts Down Free New Boyz Concert

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Man, people can't even get along for something free?  That seems to be the case as a fight broke out Sunday during a concert in Flint, Michigan from the West Coast duo, The New Boyz.

A mall employee's account of the casualties left one stabbed with a pen, another having a seizure and six other people losing consciousness.

Taking place at the Genesse Valley Center, police were forced to shut the show down as multiple fights had broken out and the show hadn't even started yet.  Meant to hold a maximum capacity of 300 people, promoters were unaware of the issues that would arise as (more...)

Black Anti-Obama Marchers Rally On White House

Monday, November 9th, 2009

“We recognize that Barack Hussein Obama is white power in Black face,” yelled Omali Yeshitela, leader of the Black is Back coalition, into a megaphone as she marched outside of the White House.

“Hundreds” of Black Americans peacefully protested President Obama's current initiatives during his first year in office.

More than 200 hundred people were believed to have gathered at the event which marks the first time a majority Black public display of descent has been displayed against the nation's first Black President. Those in attendance slung verbal barbs at President Obama, claiming that he is not bringing the “hope” and “change” that he promised while similarly blasting him for what they claim is Washington's international “imperialist” agenda.

Among the most vocal in attendance was Charles Baron, former Black Panther and New York City councilman, whom was adamant of the President's apparent lack of concern for the Black community.

“We're not satisfied with him,” said Baron of one of the most famous Presidents in history. To have a Black person exploiting me just like a white person, that's no easier pain… this hope and change rap has not been a reality for Black people.”

The group also called for the release of Mumia Abu-Jamal, a former member of the Black Panther Party who was convicted of killing a white police officer in 1982. He has since been given the death penalty.Black Protestors 1

50 Cent's long awaited fourth album Before I Self Destruct was released on iTunes today, just a week early before its official release on November 16th.

Taking his place back at the top of the charts with his latest hit single “Baby By Me” featuring Neo and produced by Polo The Don, 50 revealed that it wasn't the creative process that stalled the album and caused it to be pushed back for nearly six months.

Tragedy, however, extends farther than the borders of Detroit as many have been impacted by the rapper's presence at one point or another.

The cut still seems to run deep for Jack Splash, a rapper/producer/singer hailing from Miami who has continued to find a means to keep Baatin's name alive.

Alabama County Celebrates Obama Holiday

Monday, November 9th, 2009

An Alabama county is taking part in a new tradition exclusive to their area, a holiday to celebrate the 44th President, Barack Obama.

According to The Associated Press, Perry County is one of the poorest areas in Alabama but is pulling out all the stops during the five day long celebration. County employees will get a paid day off Monday as government buildings close to commemorate the nation's first Black President.

The celebration also featured an an old-fashioned civil rights rally, a march, a golf tournament, weekend carnival and parade.

Critics are outraged saying that the county cannot afford another Holiday but supporters say it's appropriate for an area that was key in establishing voting rights for Blacks. The Obama holiday was proposed by Commissioner Albert Turner Jr., whose father was one of the marchers beaten on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the 1965 "Bloody Sunday" voting rights march in Selma.

Five days off to celebrate Obama?! I think I need to move to Alabama ASAP!
